How to Play GavelBot

GavelBot is a game where you argue. You pick a side. You make your case. A fair judge reads it and picks the winner. Here is how it works.

What the game is

You get a question. One person argues for the "yes" side. One person argues for the "no" side. You type why your side is right. Then a judge reads both sides and picks the one that argued best.

The judge is called the bench. It reads every word. It does not know who you are. It only cares about how good your reasons are.

How to join

  1. Open the room on your phone. You can scan the code on the big screen, or tap a table.
  2. Type your name.
  3. Tap Get in line.

You do not need to download an app. You can watch for free. To play, you sign in first.

Get ready for your turn

Before you play, you need to "ready up." This just means you get set to play.

To ready up, you watch a short ad. Or you can use a coin to skip the ad. People who have coins are always ready, so they never see an ad.

You watch the ad while you wait in line. So when it is your turn, you are ready and no one waits on you.

Play the match

Win the seat

The winner stays in the seat and plays the next person in line. This is called king of the hill. If you keep winning, you keep playing.

The loser goes to the back of the line. They can ready up again and try once more.

How you move up

Every win helps your rank. There are two boards you can climb.

You can see both boards on the Standings page.

About coins

You can buy coins. You can also win the free coin each week by being the top free player.

Coins let you skip ads. Coins also get you the full judge with a written opinion about your match.

You never have to buy a coin to play. You can always play for free by watching an ad.
